Share your story

Knowing about other people’s personal experiences with congenital CMV can be a source of support and inspiration when you or someone you love is also effected.

In this section families who have been effected by congenital CMV have shared their stories  from all over Australia and New Zealand.

If you have a personal experience with congenital CMV and you would like to share it, we would love to hear from you.

We are always looking for people who have been affected by CMV, whether personally or through a close relative, to become media volunteers and share their story in CMV Australia communication and the media.

Real life stories may encourage women to adhere to prevention strategies while pregnant so that they can minimise their risk of contracting CMV. They can also provide hope and support to people who may be going through a difficult time as well as highlight the importance of early intervention for babies born with congenital CMV.

Your stories help us engage with the public and may encourage people to make a donation or take part in one of our fundraising events, therefore supporting our work to Stop CMV every day and save more lives.

Some ways you might like to be involved include:

  • Appearing in the media
  • Featuring on our website
  • Taking part in a public relations campaign
  • Helping us advocate for the need for research and public awareness about congenital CMV

We need people of all ages and backgrounds. The most important thing is that you are prepared to talk openly about your experience and congenital CMV. We suggest you also speak with members of your family about this to make sure that they are comfortable with it.

We will never use your story without first speaking with you and gaining permission. We will treat your information confidentially and will never pass on your details to a third party without first gaining permission. You always have the choice to say no if you wish.

Please fill out this form with as much detail as possible and we look forward to speaking with you soon and answering any questions you might have.

After you have filled in your information, please send an image to Stories@cmv.org.au
